Bundi

A little away from the circuit, Bundi is one of the finest scenary in northern India, it would be a shame to miss this magical city.. qu´il serait dommage de rater au profit des grandes villes indiennes. Before descending south towards Rajasthan Udaipur, it is worth making a detour to Bundi, a lovely little town, where you will discover an authentic India, reception facilities at the top, and a population not yet perverted by tourism. Already, at the time, Rudyard Kipling had stayed to finish the writing of Kim. He so loved Bundi, the Indians say that after his death, his soul has returned. A blue city nestled in the hills Bundi offers a rare bucolic vision. It is not so far from Kota, and the road gives plenty of time to admire the rolling hills and covered with rich vegetation. Far from the arid north-western Rajasthan, the proximity of Aravalli Mountains gives this green to this area. Bundi can be explored though the little streets where most of the houses are painted blue. Quiet and secluded, Bundi can be a real step of rest for the weary traveler. Many small lively streets, whether in the tourist area at the foot of the palace, or in the old town down to the vegetable market, are easy to discover. The small size of the city allows walking around it without using a rickshaw. The palace of the Maharaja of Bundi In the evening, when night falls, there is amagical vision of the palace illuminated at the top of the hill, watching like a guardian angel on the inhabitants of the city. The Maharaja of Bundi is still alive, but rather old and penniless. He lives in a small palace in the lower town, and left the Grand Palace open to visitors. It is reached by a very steep path, the old route of the royal elephants. The whole is in pretty bad shape and unkempt, and it is sad to see fade away the magnificent murals that adorn every room of the palace. But you can get an idea of life which once took place there, and most importantly, a breathtaking view over the city and surrounding countryside.
