Jodhpur was founded in 1459 by Rao Jodha, chief of Rathore clan.
Jodhpur is known as the Blue City because most of the houses of the old city are painted that color.
Blue indicated that these houses belonged to members of the Brahmin caste.
Blue also has the benefit of protection from heat and repels mosquitoes.
Jodhpur is also known as the City of the Sun because of its exceptional sunshine it enjoys all year.
